4 goals after interval
Jean Talon 2007 of the Concordia Regional Soccer League in Quebec easily overcame an early 1-0 deficit to score five consecutive goals for a 5-1 Open Canada Cup Preliminary Round victory over Capital City Ambassadors of Ottawa at Mount Royal in Montreal Sunday.
Ottawa’s Ali Al-Hajari opened the scoring at the 6th minute mark at the Jean Mance Park in Mount Royal, but the lead was short-lived when just three minutes later Jean Talon’s Paul Daccobert struck the equalizer for a 1-1 score at halftime.
It was all Jean Talon in the second half with goals by Karl Stephen at 65 minutes, Leo Incollingo (78 minutes), Jacob Jacques (87 minutes) and Stephen wrapped up the scoring with his second goal at the 90 minute mark for a 5-1 final.
Jean Talon 2007 will now meet Trois Rivieres Attak as the CSL pro teams enter the Open Canada Cup competition in the Second Round.
There is one remaining Open Canada Cup game to be played during the Canada Day holiday weekend, it’s GS United, a Scarborough-based amateur team taking on AEK London, another amateur team, a Preliminary Round game at the Victoria Park ground in Brampton, a 2 pm kickoff on Monday, July 2.
There was one game on Friday, Windsor Border Stars defeating St. Catharines Wolves, 2-1, in a Second Round game. |
