Croatia victory
Two first half goals by Toronto Croatia forward Tommy Ples was enough to give his side a 2-0 victory over Windsor Border Stars in the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night.
Ples headed the ball home at the 16th minute mark to open the scoring for the Mississauga-based team following a series of attacks on the Windsor goal and he repeated with his second at 37 minutes when he beat Windsor goalkeeper Anthony Sintilli to a 50-50 ball from a free kick.
Croatia had a decided edge in the game and were full measure for the three points following a 1-1 tie in London on Friday.
Croatia are 2-0-2 (WLT) in third position in the highly competitive International Conference, trailing Italia Shooters and Serbian White Eagles in first and second place respectively. Border Stars are in a mid-position in the National Conference with a 1-2-0 record.
