Decisive win
Windsor Border Stars failed to close the gap with league leading Oakville Blue Devils at the top of the National Division, going down 3-1 to St. Catharines Wolves at Club Roma in St. Catharines, the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Wednesday night.
The victory was a decisive one with the home team leading by a 3-0 score midway through the second half, which all started when defender Matt Waddington found the net at the 19th minute mark and this was followed by a strike by Ashley McMillan at 39 minutes.The third St. Catharines goal was scored by midfielder Pablo Nieves at the 65th minute.
Border Stars’ forward Neal McGill scored the visitor’s lone goal at the 68th minute mark, beating St. Catharines’ goalkeeper Kyle Mendonca.
The win improves St. Catharines to a 2-3-3 WLT record for 9 points, jumping the Garden City team to third place in the standings. Windsor remains at 11 points from a 3-2-2 record, still trailing Oakville Blue Devils by 5 points.
