Reduced CSL schedule
Two of the three games scheduled for this coming Sunday in the Canadian Soccer League have been postponed in favour of watching the World Cup Final between Italy and France which kicks off at 2 p.m.
The games between Caribbean Selects and Windsor Border Stars and North York Astros vs. Oakville Blue Devils, both scheduled for Esther Shiner Stadium in North York on Sunday afternoon, have been called off.
Later that day, the Italia Shooters vs. Toronto Croatia game scheduled for The Soccer Centre at 7 p.m. will be played.
There will be a total of four games played in the CSL Friday through Sunday:
Friday, July 7, Memorial Park 8 pm Toronto Croatia vs. Toronto Supra Portuguese Friday, July 7, Cove Road, London, 8.38 pm London City vs. Brampton Stallions Saturday, July 8, Windsor Stadium, 7 pm Windsor Border Stars vs. Brampton Stallions Sunday July 9, The Soccer Centre, 7 pm Italia Shooters vs. Toronto Croatia
Two highly attractive international games are being staged in southern Ontario the weekend, with Canada’s U-20 Men playing the USA at the Rogers Centre on Friday, July 7, a 7pm kickoff and the same teams at the Richardson Stadium in Kingston at 7 pm on Sunday. July 9.
These two games are part of several international friendlies over the next year in preparation for the historic 3-week, 24-nation, 52-match 2007 U-20 World Cup featuring the best Under-20 youth players in the World. Canada will host the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 from June 30 – July 22, 2007.
In World Cup action, Portugal and Germany come together on Saturday for third place consolation honours, a 3 pm ET kickoff and the World Cup Final Italy vs. France goes on Sunday at 2 pm ET.
