The new Canadian Soccer League kicks off its league schedule Friday night when Serbian White Eagles open the season with an International Division home encounter against Italia Shooters at Centennial Stadium at Etobicoke in Toronto's west end, a 7.30 p.m. start and a second league game will also kickoff at 7.30 p.m. at Windsor Stadium on Saturday where Windsor Border Stars host London City to open the CSL's National Division. The 7.30 p.m. kickoff time is change from earlier announced 8 p.m. start.
S.C. Angrense of the Portuguese Third Division will be at Cove Road in London on Friday night for an exhibition game with London City, that's an 8.30 p.m. kickoff and Angrense will then move to Brockton Stadium in Toronto for a game on Sunday against Toronto Supra Portuguese of the CSL's International Division. That game goes at 7:00 p.m.
The CSL's Open Canada Cup will get underway at Brian Timmis Stadium on Sunday with a Preliminary Round game involving two amateur teams Hamilton Serbs hosting GS United of Toronto.That's a 5 p.m. start. A game arranged for Saturday between amateur teams Ottawa St. Anthony Italia and Montreal Panellinios at the University of Ottawa, has been postponed.
The Canadian Soccer League has 12 teams in the two divisions in Ontario and Quebec and at a press conference held Wednesday announced gradual coast to coast expansion with a CSL umbrella over several divisions similar to the Canadian Hockey League.
