Brampton victory
Brampton Stallions ended their regular season campaign with a 3-1 victory over North York Astros at Victoria Park in Brampton Friday night, in what was also the final league game of the regular season in the Canadian Soccer League.
With the regular season now concluded, the eight teams successful in their bid for a playoff berth will kickoff four quarter final games on Sunday and Monday on the road to the semi-finals at Esther Shiner Stadium on Saturday, October 7 and the CSL Championship Final on October 15.
Following a scoreless first half, midfielder Lexton Hurlock opened the scoring for the Stallions at the 64th minute mark, but the Astros tied the game 1-1 on goal by forward Misiara Beleshi 12 minutes later.
Brampton’s Jorge Da Silva struck a goal at 85 minutes to put his team into a 2-1 lead and Marlon Dyke made sure of the victory with a goal for the home side at 90 minutes, a 3-1 final.
The Stallions ended the season with a 10-7-5 WLT record for an impressive 35 points, just one point short of National Conference winners Oakville Blue Devils, while the Astros concluded their 2006 season with a 3-11-8 record for 17 points and will miss the playoffs.
