In Second Round (First Leg) League Cup action at the Civic Stadium in Oshawa, the Flames had difficulty coping with a lively Brampton Hitmen attack and eventually went down to defeat by a 5-1 score. Kurt Mella scored a pair for the Hitmen, with singles from Phil Ionadi, Yusif Jamamdo and Carlysle Prowell. The lone Durham goal came from the penalty spot.
