The first Durham goal came after 14 minutes when Jamoh Welch put the ball past Hamilton goalkeeper Wojtek Zarzycki and this was followed after 26 minutes when Jamal Jupiter headed in for the Flames from a long throw deep in the Hamilton end.
Hamilton were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Denny Valestegui was shown a red card for dissent.
Durham's final goal came at the 92nd mark when Kwamie Waife-Annoh beat Zarzycki for a 3-1 final score.
The win improves Durham to a 4-5-2 WLT record for 14 points and still fourth place in the east, while Hamilton Thunder begin to struggle in the Western Conference with a 4-5-1 record and 13 points.
