YORK REGION AND TORONTO CROATIA TRIUMPHANT
York Region Shooters came back from a 1-0 half-time deficit to score two
second half goals in defeating Metro Lions 2-1 in league action at
Birchmount Stadium Friday night. Forward Mike Glasgow opened the scoring
with a 40-yard looping shot to put the Lions one up at the 27th minute
mark and York Region stormed back with goals by Jason De Thomasis and
Paul Sinisi. The goal by De Thomasis entered the net after striking the
woodwork twice. The win gives the Shooters a 4-5-2 WLT record for 14
points and third place in the Eastern Conference, while the loss gives
Metro Lions a 3-4-0 record, still with nine points.In other CPSL league action Friday, Toronto Croatia maintained its
winning way with a narrow 1-0 score over North York Astros at Memorial
Park in Mississauga. Hugo Alstitud scored the lone Toronto Croatia
marker to give his side the three points for a 6-1-4 record and 22
points at the top of the Western Conference standings. The Astros are at
1-4-2 for five points at the foot of the Western Conference.
