OPEN CANADA CUP SECOND ROUND DRAW ANNOUNCED
MONDAY-June 9-The CPSL�s Open Canada Cup competition, involving all 13 pro teams of the Canadian Professional Soccer League and nine of the strongest amateur teams in Ontario and Quebec all vying for the winner-take all prize of $10,000 cash, will continue into Round Two during the Canada Day holiday weekend, Friday, June 27 to Tuesday, July 1, the CPSL has announced.
Three games were played in the Preliminary Round during the Victoria Day holiday weekend, with Kanata from eastern Ontario, Benfica and Peniche from the Toronto area, advancing to the next round. They eliminated Whitby Iroquois, Real (Richmond Hill) and Exeter Centennials (Southwestern Ontario), respectively. The game between AEK (London) and Woodbridge Azzurri scheduled for May 16, was postponed due to heavy rains and is rescheduled for Friday, June 27.

Gaining a bye are Ottawa Wizards and Laval Dynamites, so that 10 teams will see action in Round Three. The five surviving teams will meet in the final weekend--the Labour Day holiday weekend when a Wild Card game will be played, followed by two semi-final games with the Open Canada Cup Final on Monday, Labour Day, September 1.
