ASTROS, ROMA WOLVES TIE 2-2 AT ESTHER SHINER

North York Astros made a strong bid for their second league win of the season and three points against St. Catharines Roma Wolves at Esther Shiner Stadium Monday, but after taking the lead with two quick goals early in the first half, the home side failed to maintain the advantage and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Astros entered the game with still vivid memories of the 5-1 defeat in the hands of the Roma Wolves at Club Roma on July 24, were determined to make amends and at the same time improve their lowly position at the foot of the Western Conference.

North York Astros took a 2-1 lead at the 16th minute mark on a breakaway which ended when Kadian Lecky scored, pushing the ball past St. Catharines goalkeeper Claudio Perri from close range. Astros held the lead well into the second half, but after 73 minutes Wolves' Carlo Arghittu beat Astros' goalkeeper Luciano Miranda for the 2-2 tie. St. Catharines pressed for the winner late in the game but Miranda was strong in the North York goal.
St. Catharines improve to a 4-5-5 WLT record for 17 points and third position in the Western Conference standings, while the Astros have a 1-6-3 record for six points at the foot of the table.
