LONDON CITY vs BRAMPTON HITMEN OFF
Due to the death Thursday night of Mrs. Magdalene Gauss, mother of London City Soccer Club owner and head coach, Harry Paul Gauss, the London City vs. Brampton Hitmen game scheduled for the Cove Road Field Friday, has been postponed.
There are two remaining games on tap in the Canadian Professional Soccer League for tonight and both are home openers. Toronto Croatia will host Toronto Supra at Memorial Park in Mississauga, an 8 p.m. start and to the west of Toronto at the Civic Stadium in Oshawa, new club Durham Storm will play the first home game against high flying Vaughan Shooters, that an 8.30 p.m. start.
Mrs Gauss, who passed away Thursday night at St. Joseph�s Hospital in London, was a constant source of encouragement in the beginning and development of the London City Soccer Club for 31 years, a club well-known in the soccer community in southern Ontario and to others throughout the country.
Markus Gauss, father of owner Harry Gauss, is president of the club and executive positions are held by Harry�s sons Sean and Ryan.
So, the club is very much a family affair which has no doubt contributed positively to its desire to assist young players in southwestern Ontario to develop in a professional soccer environment.
Condolences were being received from the soccer community during Friday and arrangements will be made known as soon as they are available.
