HAMILTON THUNDER vs. TORONTO SUPRA CALLED OFF AT BRIAN TIMMIS ON SATURDAY

A second game has been postponed at the Brian Timmis Stadium in Hamilton when the Canadian Professional Soccer League called off the Hamilton Thunder vs. Toronto Supra encounter due to be played Saturday, June 5 at 8.00 p.m.

This means just one game will be played on Saturday, the Border Stars home opener against Toronto Croatia is scheduled for Windsor Stadium with a 7.05 p.m. kickoff.

The league yesterday postponed the Hamilton Thunder vs. Border Stars game set for the same night and this is all due to an unusual amount of rain during the past 10 days affecting a resurfacing of the ground recently. New sod has been laid in an attempt to render the playing surface at the Hamilton venue even better for the new season, but the unusual amount of rain was not anticipated.

Both games will be rescheduled during the next week.

Border Stars are expecting a large crowd for the return of professional soccer to the border city.

Jeff Hodgson is the principal person behind the formation of a new pro soccer group from both sides of the Canada-U.S. border, together with J.J. Dowhan, an assistant coach at the University of Windsor and Gary Maccagnone of Michigan, who owns a trucking business.

Pat Hilton, a midfielder with Blackburn Rovers in the English League and a licensed UEFA and FA coach is the Border Stars head coach.

Tough opposition is expected in the opener from Toronto Croatia, a team that finished third in the Western Conference last season and with a long history of achievement in Canadian soccer.
