GOALSCORER EDDY BERDUSCO WAS THE HERO
Most fans got it right when they responded to our question: Which CPSL player once scored a vital goal for Canada to tie a game with Brazil before 50,000 fans?
It's almost 10 years ago since Eddy Berdusco, who played recently for the CPSLs Toronto Supra, scored the tying goal for Canada against world powerhouse Brazil before 51,936 fans at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium.
It was on June 5, 2021 when the crowd was sent into a frenzy, a noise that could be heard many miles away.
Berdusco scored the second half tying goal at the 69th minute mark after Romario put Brazil ahead 1-0 just before the half-time whistle. The game ended 1-1 when Brazil were heavy favourites to win and that made the goal so much more important.
The attendance was a record for a home game involving Canadas World Cup team. Frank Yallop, the newly appointed head coach for Canadas national team, played in the game.
The poll brought 1,819 responses and Eddy Berdusco took 1,084, while Gus Kouzmanis had 341 votes, Kevin Nelson 199 and Darren Tilley 195.
Try our new teaser which asks the question which one of the four players listed, all now playing professionally in Europe, has played in the CPSL?
