Toronto Croatia vaulted three places in the standings with an impressive 3-0 win over Mississauga Olympians at Memorial Park in Streetsville Friday night, the first of a busy full slate of seven weekend games in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
One other game in the printed schedule, Vaughan Sun Devils vs. Durham Flames set for Dufferin Clark in Vaughan, was postponed to accommodate some rearranged fixtures during the next few days.
Mario Zupepic opened the scoring for Croatia after 37 minutes and at the 56th minute Joe Draganic made it 2-0 for Toronto Croatia when he easily beat Olympians�goalkeeper Ritchie Gare.
Leo Laurito, recently signed from Hamilton Thunder, made it 3-0 for Croatia at the 80th minute mark for the final score.
Sam Virdo, deputizing for the absent George Azcurra was solid in the Toronto Croatia nets to earn the shutout.
The win meant an unusual move from bottom in the Western Conference standings to fourth position, jumping over three teams in the 7-team division.
Croatia now has a 4-7-0 WLT record for 12 points, with Mississauga Olympians in 5th position with a 3-7-2 record for 11 points.
