Forward Joey Todaro scored with just seconds remaining to salvage a 3-3 tie for Vaughan Sun Devils against St. Catharines Wolves in a see-saw end-to-end struggle, the only game played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League at Club Roma in St. Catharines Wednesday night.
Jason De Thomasis gave the Sun Devils the lead at the 16 minute mark and Carlo Arghittu tied the game for St. Catharines eight minutes later.
Matt Palleschi put Vaughan Sun Devils ahead at the 38th minute mark and Anthony Stranges tied the score 2-2 for St. Catharines after 50 minutes.
Arghittu struck St. Catharines third goal for a 3-2 lead at 58 minutes and the home team was heading for the narrow win when Todaro found the net for the Sun Devils in the dying seconds of the match.
The tie does little for two clubs bidding for a playoff spot as St. Catharines improve to a 6-5-2 WLT record for 20 points to retain the qualifying third position in the Western Conference, while the Sun Devils are in much the same position with a 5-2-4 record for 19 points and third in the east.
