Mississauga Olympians went to Esther Shiner Stadium in North York on Monday with still vivid memories of a 3-0 loss in the hands on North York Astros in Wild Card playoff action last October 18 and this loss came while being reminded of a 2-1 league loss to the Astros six weeks earlier.
But things were different this time around and the Olympians blanked North York 3-0 for their first win of the new season.
Following an opening 25 minutes during which North York showed signs of keeping up the promise shown recently while winning 2-0 win over Durham Flames on the Oshawa-based teams home ground and the same score to win at London Citys ground on June 13, it was the Olympians who went ahead on a well taken goal by John Matas.
Danny Sanna made it 2-0 just after the interval and at 57 minutes striker Darren Tilley, last years leading scorer and Rookie of the Year in the CPSL, made it 3-0.
Astros stay tied for first place with Hamilton Thunder at the top of the Western Conference with a 2-2-1 record for 7 points, while Mississauga Olympians improve to 1-1-1 for 4 points.
