The CPSL Soccer Show resumes on Sunday
The popular CPSL Soccer Show launched last year by Rogers Television is back on air throughout Ontario this coming Sunday, June 23 at 1.30 p.m.
Returning will be host Alex Bastyovanszky and he will be joined by Anton Granic, a regular on TSN's Off the Record, to bring an action-packed half-hour of CPSL highlights from recent games, soccer news and interviews, coaching tips and features.
"We want to continue where we left off last year in what was a highly successful partnership with Rogers Television and our upcoming shows will be even better," said CPSL president Vincent Ursini on signing the new agreement.
Granic, 29, is a frequent guest on Off the Record and will be on the program tonight at 6 p.m. In addition to being an on-air personality, he has behind the scenes experience as a producer and is a former professional soccer player.
Bastyovanszky launched last year's show as host and producer and became a popular and important driving force to develop the only regional weekly program dedicated to Canadian pro soccer. He also called the play-by-play of important games including the Rogers Cup Final for the CPSL Championship won by St. Catharines Roma Wolves over Toronto Supra in October.
"We believe this combination of two individuals who know the game so well and have great on-air presence will add up to a winning combination for the CPSL and for soccer in the region," said Ursini.
The CPSL has 14 teams in Ontario and Quebec with expansion plans in the works here and throughout Canada. The league is classified in North America as Second Division professional soccer and is the only complete professional league in this country. Competition runs from the end of May through October 20. The league is studying a W-CPSL as Canada's professional women's league for a possible launch early next year.
